I am just getting started on my TESL Masters Degree and really appreciated the information in your article on "Giant Steps for ELLs with Nonfiction Writing" I hope you do not mind if I quote you a little on my homework assignments. I would give you full credit for anything I quoted. neils_davis@yahoo.comMr.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03415462728017998590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-586468878598502646.post-20469706379600878102010-01-26T18:11:17.788-08:002010-01-26T18:11:17.788-08:00This post really helped.
I am teaching ESL stude...This post really helped.

I am teaching ESL students who are mainstreamed in my middle school LA class. This is my first experience teaching LA to ESL students who are level I or level II.

I have little explanation, and the last explanation of state assessments for my ESL students completely contradicted the last thing I was told at the start of the year, and now with a month left I now know they must take the state writing test, although they have been in the U.S. for just a few months.

I had been working with the students, while expecting a portfolio assessment for both reading and writing.

My concentration is still not on the test. My concentration is giving them a foundation of confidence, and because I teach 8th grade, i was hoping to give them a few strategies that they could also depend on in high school.Momma Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08345899931639294925noreply@blogger.com
